WEB Ali Baba ou Les quarante voleurs is a tragédie lyrique in four acts plus a prologue with libretto by Eugène Scribe and Mélesville, based on the One Thousand and One Nights tale of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.

Luigi Cherubini, an Italian opera composer, wrote WEB Ali Baba. The opera premiered in 1833 at the Paris Opera and was well-received by the public.
Synopsis
The opera tells the story of Ali Baba, a poor woodcutter who discovers the secret of a group of forty thieves. The thieves store their stolen treasure in a cave, and Ali Baba learns the magic words that open the cave's door: "Open Sesame." Ali Baba becomes wealthy by taking some of the treasure, but the thieves soon discover his secret and try to kill him. However, Ali Baba is saved by his faithful slave, Morgiana, who kills the thieves.
